Perhaps inevitably, I have fallen into the trap of letting almost 2 full months pass without a post, including never finishing the gratitude inventory. To briefly summarize – I am indeed grateful for the many things that I have, was blessed with a wonderful holiday season full of many holiday activities and events (although wish I could have seen my family more), and excited about 2026, where the first month has been a blur.
There have also been many things that have happened in the world. I remain skeptical of mainstream media reporting and coverage – it seems to me to be 80% propaganda surrounding 20% facts. Hypocrisy exposure has to be at an all-time high. And people have taken the premise that ‘when data and stories conflict, stories are always right’. Despite this, I remain optimistic about the future of mankind and the possibilities of what great things can happen again for society.
In my consulting days, there was a senior leader who use to say, if you want to be a [Partner/Executive], then be a [Partner/Executive]. The premise is that you should act, behave, contribute, and drive outcomes based on what you aspire to be now and not wait for the title. I agree and love that. To all those people who want to change the world, start by changing it yourself. A few examples,
- If you want to pay higher taxes, then pay higher
taxes. The government will not cut
you off from paying / contributing more.
- If you believe that we are living on stolen
lands, then use your wealth and success to return those lands. Every city in the United States has small
homes and apartments that people can live happy lives in. So, use what resources you have to make
what you want happen.
- If you are not happy with where the government
spends money, run for office and change it. As a reminder, Senator Ted Cruz was in the
first part of his first term when he shut down the government in an
attempt to fulfill his campaign promise to end Obamacare’s health
insurance mandates.
- If you think people are being treated inhumanely,
then treat people humanely. Calling
them names and stereotyping them is not helpful.
It is easy to spend a few seconds and click a few keys to forward a meme or video or message on social media.
If you want to live in a
great world, then live in a great world.
